Can I get away with keeping a dog in a ‘no pets allowed’ apartment?

nathalie asked:

I recently found out that the apartment I will be moving into in a few months, does not allow any pets! I have a 3 month old yorkie puppy that I got about a month ago who I’ve grown deeply attached to. She rarely barks and is pretty small. Do you think I can get away with having her in the apt anyway? Has anyone done this?

(Finding a different place is not an option)
I did not know they did not allow pets when I got the puppy or when I applied for the apartment. Obviously I wouldn’t have gotten it if I knew.

Liz A asked:

I’m planning on buying a parrot when I move into a larger apartment, and I’d like to be sure that I’m picking out a breed of bird that isn’t threatened or was illegally imported.

Also, what are their personality types?

How attached do cats get to other cats?

Saturday, October 25th, 2008
PetWoman asked:

My cat has been living at my others for the last 2 yeas. I had her as a single cat for 4 years prior to that. I returned to school and could not take her with me.

I am looking at moving into an apartment that allows pets. I am worried that taking her out of my mothers house may have an adverse affect on her and my mothers other cats. They have a 1 yr female that was a rescue when she was a kitten who my cat played a surogate mother too. There is another male cat who loves her since she is the only cat that will play with her. My mothers other two cats are indifferent to her.

Should I take her back and adopt her a friend, or leave her at my mothers?

What do you think of pergo floor for dogs?

Saturday, July 26th, 2008
Delilah asked:

I installed pergo flooring in my place and I feel so bad because my two dogs cannot get traction on the floor. They slip and slide around and cannot jump up to get on anything =( My dog can’t go after his ball like before because he just slides around. It’s almost like a car skidding on ice. Isn’t this mean? I think carpet is better for dogs don’t you? I think when I get an apartment it’ll have carpet in it so they can play!

How to introduce cats to new home?

Marissa K asked:

Hi I’ve got 2 cats, and they’re both pretty old, at 11 and 9 respectively. They have lived in the same place their entire lives, and mostly roam about outdoors (in fact they’re not allowed in the house, we feed them on the balcony) However, I am going to move soon to a smaller apartment, and my cats will be kept in the house and probably won’t the allowed out.

How am I to handle this since they’re pretty old and have never been away from the outdoors or kitty-litter trained? Thank you!

How can I help my cats adjust to a new environment easily?

No_name asked:

Had my two cats for 3 years, and they’ve lived in the same apartment with me for as long as I had them. I am buying a townhouse soon, which means we will be moving in a new place. I am afraid my cats will become angry with me for taking them out of their comfortable environment.

How do you suggest I make the move easy for my cats? I want them to like our new home, but I don’t want to stress them out or really upset them. Are cats resiliant or will the move be hard on them?

What temperature should the house be for cats?

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008
Jen asked:

My husband and I live in an apartment with our 3 cats. We don’t usually turn up the heat when we are sleeping or not home. Should we keep the house warmer when we are not their for the cats or are they okay in colder temperatures?
Well I am usually cold and wear a sweatshirt, socks and sometimes a blanket. We are just trying to save money on our electric bill, but I don’t want it to hurt my cats. I know some cats live outside, but I am not sure if it is too cold in here for them.

How can you stop cats from pulling screen out of window screen frame?

Donna W asked:

My cats have figured out how to pull the screen out of the frame of the window screen. I know I can get pet proof screen but they will pull on the screen til it comes out of the frame. I also don’t want to spend a fortune on cat proof screen since I live in an apartment.
thanks for all the good tips. I’ve used the spray bottle thing for years. Unfortunately, they do it while I’m asleep. I like leaving the window open at night and have never had a cat out of the 25 cats I’ve had in my lifetime do that. The repellent spray didn’t work. I might have to resort to clipping.

thanks again

doncrisp- i think you need to do some research on toxoplasmosis. lol you don’t know what you are talking about.
Oh and if you are that worried about it, you better not eat undercooked meat, or work in a garden.
